  • This recipe serves 8 – 10 people.

Ingredients :

4 pounds beef (cut into cubes)

4 cups mushrooms (sliced)

3 tablespoons  olive oil

2 sliced onions
 (large)

2 large carrots (diced)

2 garlic cloves (minced
 fresh garlic)

2 bay leaves

1 teaspoon Thyme

1 teaspoon basil

1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce

white or black pepper (to taste)

1/2 bottle Burgundy wine

1/2 cups water

1/2 cup butter

1/2 cup flour

Preparation :

In a large pot brown meat in olive oil.  Add onions and garlic and cook together for 5 minutes.  Then add mushrooms, bay leaf, thyme, basil, Worcestershire sauce, and pepper.  Cook together for another 5 minutes until all the flavors combine.   Finally, add wine and water, and let simmer for 1-2 hours or until beef is tender.  Another option is to transfer the mixture to a baking dish and bake in the over

at 350 degrees for 2-3 hours.  To finish, combine the flour and butter and mix well.  Take this mix and stir it in to the beef that is still simmering.  Heat the beef until it is boiling, then reduce heat, and simmer until sauce has thickened.  Serve and enjoy.
